Magical Roots – Week 1

Here I go again! Well, truth be told, I’ve never done a legacy, I’ve always done apocalypses or prosperity challenges. Time to change that.

Meet Anise Root. She’s a very natural sim. She loves the outdoors, fishing and gardening. She’s also ambitous and has a great sense of humour. I’m using all three of the current optional rules, so this will be a matriarchy and the family trait will be green thumb. Obviously I’m doing the story telling part as well.

So this is the Root Mansion. Yeah, it’s not much to look at yet. I love the fact that terrain paints are now free! Makes it easier to mark out future locations! I thought about giving her a pond, but she doesn’t really need it since there’s one across the road.

“Hello? Don’t forget about me! You left me paused forever while you ran around trying to get the graphics better and trying to find a way to hide my plumbbob. Can I do something now?”
Sure, you can pick those grapes and then we’re going to town to get you a job and a man.

“He seems like a nice fellow, but I hope he’s not the fellow you want me to stalk.”
No, not him, it’s just I saw our intended victim go to their house for a visit. I hope you don’t mind, but there aren’t many single non-rich men in town, so I kinda went ahead and chose one for you.

I’m not sure if Victoria agrees that they’ll make a good couple or if she’s just happy that the strange hussy isn’t after her husband.

“Him I can handle, he’s rather dreamy in his own special way.”

Wow girl, you sure can work fast!
“Fast? You call this fast, I’ve been here all afternoon flirting my butt off.”
Still, everyone’s been talking about how much harder it is in Sunset Valley to build a romantic relationship and you’ve done it faster than any of my Waknuk or Knowlton sims ever did.

“I know it’s very highschool and all, but would you… go steady with me?”

Obviously he said yes. Quite honestly I’m shocked that none of this is bothering Beau and Victoria. Their two guests are completely ignoring them.

“I’d rather learn gardening by doing it…”
This is faster, and the faster you learn, the faster you get promoted and the faster you can get that stove you want.

“The gym? But I’m tired, I wanna go home and sleep.”
Remember how you don’t have a shower? They do. Sleeping will come eventually. The first day is always the busiest, at least until children show up.

“I thought you said I’d get to sleep?”
Last thing before bed, I swear, besides your the one who wants to have three garden plants.

How was work?
“I had no idea that being a Test Subject would be so stressful. I didn’t get a promotion either.”
You expected a promotion on your first day? This isn’t Sims 2 you know.

Hopefully this will de-stress you a bit. You deserve it after studying at the library again all afternoon.

A little seed hunting at the park, honestly she throws up new wishes faster than I can accomplish them with her.

Like all legacy sims, she is forced to eat her dinner on the toilet. Poor girl was so tired she didn’t even stop at the gym for her shower.

Well, you have a serious case of B.O., but at least your breath will be minty fresh.

Aren’t you excited? You got a promotion and I bought you a tub!
“Too tired to be excited, I need sleep.”

“Argh! What is wrong with you? I don’t want groceries, I want a bath and to sleep.”
No groceries, just a little something for your bath.

Err, Anise? Watcha doing honey? Are you sure that’s a good idea when you’re exhausted? Why don’t you play with your ducky instead.

Enjoy your well earned rest dear, tomorrow’s another busy day, and you really should invite Chris over. By the way, would it kill you to sleep with your eyes all the way shut? It’s creeping me out.

~~~~~Wednesday~~~~~

Boring, boring, boring….
Wake up, brush teeth, work, garden, etc.

Cool! Starlight proposal! Will he say yes?

Yup, quick! Marry him before he changes his mind!

Woot! We have enough to finish up the garage which will be their temporary home.

Here is the house that Rowan built. It’s not much, but it’s a lot more than they had. They have a grand total of $143 left in their joint bank account. Good thing Chris wants a job. I’ll introduce him and give you his stats in the morning.

~~~~~Thursday~~~~~

So, it’s time to introduce Chris. Obviously he loves fishing. He’s a natural cook, friendly, a great kisser and everything he does is extreme. He wants to have the Perfect Private Aquarium, but since he also wanted to join the Military I’m not sure when he’ll have much time to work on it. I’m not sure what his problem is at the moment, maybe he’s having second thoughts about joining a legacy so early on.

“Extremely heavy….”
You’re the one who wanted to join the military, now get extreme pumping.

I have a feeling that Chris is not going to have an easy life due to his choices, but it will be interesting. How will he ever manage a demanding career like the Military with the copious amounts of time that achieving a perfect aquarium will require?

“I want to fish!”
I know, but since you have the day off and athletic skills are very draining I thought you’d best get ahead of those today. You can go fishing after work tomorrow maybe. Right now your family needs money more than you need fish.

Anise is just power-charging that career ladder. You go girl!

“There’s nothing quite like gardening to help you relax after a hard day at work. ‘Sides, Victoria asked me for some fruit for her newest recipe.”
Think you’ll have time for a visit to the library as well? You need to learn some handiness skills for your next promotion.

“Here you go Victoria! I was really happy that I could do something for you after you were so understanding about the whole romancing Chris in your parlor thing. No charge!”
“Nonsense dear, you and Chris are just starting out, I’m sure you could use the money.”
“Gee thanks, I gotta run now, sorry, but I need to go to the library for work.”

It’s odd, but nobody’s getting the ‘Beautiful Vista’ moodlet. Strange, huh?

~~~~~Friday~~~~~

At least being in the Military makes it easy for Chris to go fishing before 6 am. Even if it’s only for a few minutes, he finds it the perfect way to start his day.

Chris had to stay late to cover an evening patrol, so Anise hits the library yet again. The slight learning boost is worth it. Not to mention the savings on books.

Congratulations Chris! You’re my first ever S3 sim to get a promotion on the first day of work. Now for you’re reward! (Yes, that is his excited face)

Yes Chris, we are indeed here to help you with some of those fish related wishes. We need to buy you a fish recipe and help you learn minnow bait.

Chris also heads to the library to get a bunch of reading done. Of his four wishes, three require reading.

“This is not how I envisioned spending my day off.”

No photos for the rest of the day because it was very similar to most of their free time. There was gardening and the gym, and then there was the library, and that’s about it.

Anise and Chris spent all day skilling without giving me any mouth about it, so I thought a little ‘couple’ time was a perfect reward for them. This was purely for fun, there will be no children resulting from this evenings work.
