Week 30 - Peaceful Easy Feeling

Day 204 – Sunday

ScreenshotPoor Chloe is now in charge of all things household, whether it’s repairs, cooking, cleaning, or childcare. Sounds harsh, but we both want to give Scott a shot at achieving his dreams.

Screenshot-2I really hope that after this one is born she stops bugging me for children, but since she’s family oriented, I’m not going to bet on it.

Screenshot-3Let’s get the toddler training out of the way right away.

Screenshot-4Scott doesn’t look like his sixth book is going very well.

Screenshot-5After a quick lunch break, Chloe finishes teaching Chloe everything she needs to know. Family oriented really speeds up toddler skilling.

Screenshot-6Chloe was feeling a bit stir-crazy, so I sent her out to buy the family’s first non-rabbit hole piece of real estate, The Swirling Sands Library. Of course, now the library is closed because it doesn’t meet requirements. While Chloe checks out the property, I’ll work on that.

Screenshot-7Chloe just managed to get The Swirling Sands Library open, but there was some rule bending involved. Mainly, the $500 limit on some items, especially since it’s still not particularly clear to me which things this does and doesn’t apply to. The only things that Chloe bought that cost more than that limit were plumbing, electronics, and the jungle gym. Considering how much money had to be injected into the lot to make it ready for opening, Chloe and I decided to put in a covered playground area for children, with lots of outdoor seating for reading or supervising playing children, or both at the same time. Without Architecture lifted, bringing a venue up to par is quite difficult.

Screenshot-8Since I was in the building/decorating mood anyway, the family’s home has been rearranged a bit as well. The living room is now downstairs where the art area is, and all of the crafting stations have been moved to SL-1. I’m not sure if I’ve left enough space around everything, but we’ll find out tomorrow.

Day 205 – Monday

Screenshot-9As you can see, Aunt Sarah has now passed on. That’s all of generation 3 now. I guess I should have waited before managing the dead, because now I need to take another trip to the cemetery.

Screenshot-10The family appears to be quite happy with their new kitchen/toddler room.

Screenshot-11Happy toddlers and productive parents. Best yet, whenever the grown-ups need cheering up, there’s a toddler close by to repeatedly tickle.

Day 206 – Tuesday

Screenshot-13Hee hee hee!

Screenshot-14“I know that you want to be there for the birth Scott, but you need to stay home with the children.”

Screenshot-15While we all wait to hear about the newest family member, Jarod prepares for his first day of school while his father tries to work on his new novel, though he’s a bit too distracted to get any real work done on it.

Screenshot-16Welcome to the family Brigitte!

Yes, I hated Brigitte, but we’ve already had an Emily, and I hated Zoë even more than I hated Brigitte.

Screenshot-17It was so peaceful, and then the post-school/suppertime insanity set in.

Day 207 – Wednesday

Screenshot-18Chloe and Scott would love to work on their careers, but the girls are fairly demanding today.

Screenshot-19It’s 1pm before they get to settle down and write a bit. I’m very excited because Chloe has just started her first Masterpiece. I probably should have had her pen a couple more shorter novels first to earn Speed Writer, but I didn’t think of it and I don’t want to scrap her current novel.

Day 208 – Thursday

Screenshot-20Midnight feedings suck. Especially since nobody has a decent bed.

Screenshot-21Lol, Catherine wandered outside on her own with her toy boat and was stopped by the stairs. I guess it seemed like a good time to go mining.

Day 209 – Friday

Screenshot-22Friday is yet another nice calm day. Guess this week will be a quick read for you folks, lol. I’ve actually been spending a lot of time building the family’s extended family tree on Ancestry.ca. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a way to share the family tree without sending out email invites. In the past I’ve used MyHeritage to build family trees, but it’s not very good about extended family and inter-family marriages. If anyone knows of a better one that would allow me to share without invites, let me know.

Screenshot-23Hee hee, happiness! I got sick of the default toy chest toys and added some new ones for the kids. Plus, you know, cute toddler filler pics!

Screenshot-24Jarod is the first Salvatore child to ever be allowed to go to a friend’s after school. I think I’ve lifted all the appropriate restrictions. There are just so many to keep track of, but that’s half the fun!

Screenshot-25I did eventually cave to Scott’s demand for a career. As you can see, he’s reached L3, not that I really care. It has no bearing on his earnings or achieving his LTW, it just gets him to stop bitching and moaning at me about it. As it is, he and Chloe are both demanding another child, which I don’t really want to do. Three’s enough, right?

Hmm, so the heir/heiress will either be Catherine or Jarod. Oddly enough, despite my normal predisposedness towards girls and the youngest possible sim, I’m actually liking Jarod for the position.

Screenshot-27Part of that is that Jarod is family oriented. Another part is that I’ve always loved Jarod’s namesake, and the other part is Jarod’s planned career.

Day 210 – Saturday

Screenshot-28Don’t you hate it when your babies become toddlers and decide that the middle of the night is the time to be awake?

Screenshot-29Off to the library we go! Chloe and Brigitte will join them later. I’ve got some upgrading to do anyway. I’ve been saving up my allotment of build mode items all week. (I’m assuming 2 items per property at the moment, which means I have been building on the home lot daily, but saving up the Library allotment for Saturday.)

Screenshot-30“What’s she doing here if she’s in labour?! Quick, make her leave! I’m too young to see this!”

Screenshot-31It feels nice to get the whole family out of the house. Chloe and Scott were getting a bit stir crazy anyway.

Grrr, never ever ever again. At least until Generations is released. Maybe then they’ll fix the problem where parents attempt to abandon their toddlers on community lots, get halfway home, go back to get them, and repeat the process endlessly. We’ve got the “Go Someplace With…” interaction for every bloody place except home. Arghh! I ended up having to resort teleporting the toddlers home (testingcheats) and then sending the parents home.

Screenshot-32Happy Birthday Catherine!

Screenshot-33A little kiddie bonding time before bed.

I’ve got to say, I’m really jonesing for Generations. Love all the new stuff for the ages below teen and I’m really looking forward to that spiral staircase! By the time you guys read this it will only be 3 days to release day. I’ve pre-ordered from EA (wanted to take advantage and get Outdoor Living for free) but who knows what day my game will actually come in since I want a hard copy of the disc.

I pine for the spiral staircases… And I will be playing it in my new place in North Carolina. Any time you want to abandon family in and bask in the warmth of the beach, just say so. We got a spare room for ya Rowan. :)

I like Jarod for the heir. Catherines eyes are just weird…Creeepy.

  • Ha! If it doesn’t stop raining here soon that’s going to be awful tempting. Of course then there wouldn’t be anyone to make the boys their bentos.

Assuming that you’re talking about the shape of Catherine’s eyes, they’re not that weird, I just always seemed to get shots when she was smiling. I like the color though, they’re a nice dark blue.

  • Jessie

They look like frowns…but if its just her smiling thats okay. But it is a pretty color.

And remember, moms need a break too. Even if its from bentos and rain. :)
