Week 34 - Don’t Fear the Reaper

(Wish I could kill the Reaper)

Day 232 – Sunday

 

I’ve never done the Investigator career before, so bear with me as I fumble around. Catherine has a want to solve a case, and after looking around and clicking various things, I found “Find a Case” on the laptop. (This was a career reward for either Clark or Oliver, I’m not sure which, and I only kept one because of the amount it added to the Protection Payment.)

 

“Lady, you’re paying me to dig up dirt on someone. You could at least pretend that you haven’t heard the rumours.”

 

Cool! Nifty little spy glasses to show what we should inspect, and I love her sleuthing outfit.

 

Now the rumours are true!

 

“Case closed!”

Wow, that was easy.

 

Yes, I’m sure that nobody will spot you behind your leaf pom poms.

 

I am loving this career so much more than I expected! When I heard about Ambitions I expected to love Architecture and that was about it. So far, Architecture is my least favourite of the new professions.

 

“What a suspicious looking character…”

“Why is my daughter hiding behind small fake bushes?”

 

Time to write a report about what we saw during the stakeout. It was actually two stakeouts, because she rolled up the want to do one right after I had her do the first one. While she’s doing that we should check in with the rest of the family. I don’t imagine there will be a lot of shots of them this week though as I’m enjoying playing with Catherine. She’ll probably be the first spare to get so much screen time.

 

Latricia is busy writing horrible novels to work on her writing for later on in her career. I’d like to speed her through it as fast as possible so that she has time to have three children and get to level 9 of Science.

 

Jarod and Brigitte are being creative. See? You’re not missing anything as I go ga-ga over the Private Investigator profession.

 

The closure of her second case takes Catherine up to level 3. I thought about telling you guys the story lines behind her cases, but didn’t want to spoil the laughs for those who haven’t played PI yet.

 

Day 233 – Monday

 

Latricia must be more excited about her career in Film than I thought. She’s walking on air!

 

Snooping for clues. I’m not sure how I’m going to handle having two hands-on careers going at the same time.

 

While I was busy working with Jarod on a renovation, Catherine managed to get another promotion. Good girl!

 

“All right lady, for the fourth, and hopefully final, time, your bloody renovations are complete. Would you please tell me whether or not they are satisfactory.”

Yep, this is the fourth time he’s called her. Generally, she shows up, looks at things and then just leaves without saying anything one way or the other.

 

Jarod started this renovation at 8:30am. It’s now taken so long to get a review that Latricia has finished work and gotten a promotion. I’m seriously considering just drafting for the rest of his career.

 

We’re now starting a renovation at Ana’s. Ana is challenging, because she’s Evil but she also Loves the Outdoors. Guess if I put windows in somewhere I’ll just keep it normal.

 

Finally, renovations are starting to go right, and Jarod’s clients are asking for his autograph!

(Which I’d forgotten he’s not allowed to do. Doh!)

 

“For someone who’s computer savvy, Cat sure fried this thing.”

Hey, it’s not her fault, it’s had heavy usage and is getting quite old. Geez, by tech standards it’s antique.

 

Day 234 – Tuesday

 

Jarod’s got to take some time off today. We’ve got two broken showers, and all of the laundry baskets are full. Hopefully he’ll still be able to get in some time at the drafting table afterwards. His fun is kind of low, so that’s getting higher priority than renovations today.

 

Have you ever caught a racoon going through your garbage? They look exactly like this. I’m not joking.

 

Bambi is just so bloody clueless. She waves hello as Cat goes through her garbage.

 

“Ah ha!”

Cat gets a lot of daytime stakeouts because the people that she needs to talk to about her current case are frequently at work.

 

Latricia is doing great about promotions, but she’s finding the work very stressful. I know just how to cheer her up though.

 

What did you think I was talking about?!

 

Cat is quickly catching up with Jarod, probably because her career is quite a bit easier.

 

So much for solving that case.

 

“Hi Uncle Oliver, what seems to be the problem?”

“I suspect my neighbour is secretly smashing my toes at night.”

Umm, yeah.

 

“Turns out Uncle Oliver was kicking the gnome while sleep walking. He’s given me two of them in the hopes that their removal from the lot will save his tender tootsies.”

I just have to say this. SP has decided that Oliver is quite the player. He seems to have romantic interactions with half the ladies in town. The lady he’s flirting with now? That’s Latricia’s MOM.

 

Day 235 – Wednesday

 

Jarod finished one renovation this morning, and now I’ve got him working on drafting so that I can concentrate on Catherine for awhile. Plus, it improves his painting skill which is one of his three Renaissance Sim skills.

 

Dusting for finger prints. I love the outfits, very film noire!

 

It’s a good day to be a PI!

 

Just two more promotions and I can give them somewhere really nice to live!

 

I’ve essentially switched Cat to the graveyard shift so that I can concentrate on Jarod during the daytime.

 

Day 236 – Thursday

 

Scott has a renovation for Emily, but we’re waiting until her shift ends at 11am. Not too long, just long enough to finish up his sketch at the drafting table.

 

Level 8 means that we can now “Discuss Renovation” with our clients! Passive review boost #2!

 

You know Latricia, the faster you top Director, the sooner you can have children and switch careers.

 

Oh hell! That’s just not fair. Jarod wasted valuable time taking measurements and discussing the renovations with her and she had to up and die just when we were ready to start. Grr.

 

Grimmy, you are turning into a real pain in my backside this week. That’s twice already this week that you have interfered with me. Keep it up, and we’ll find out if the Grim Reaper himself can die.

 

“But sir, you don’t understand! I have the town’s best architect here! Can’t I have my studio before I die? I just know that it would make my life feel complete!”

 

I know we haven’t seen much of Brigitte this week. Honestly I have my hands full juggling Jarod and Catherine. I’m really glad that I had Scott and Chloe move out, because even though they were low maintenance, I’m having a hard time finding time for Brigitte and Latricia, let alone dealing with their saggy old butts.

 

I’m beginning to think that despite Jarod’s head start, Catherine is going to lift her restriction before he does.

 

It’s the return of the Whitney! Whitney wants Catherine to get her some information so that she can blackmail her boss into giving her a raise. Whit’ll love that.

 

There are drawbacks to doing PI work on the graveyard shift. Namely that Catherine needs to test the food at the bistro herself, but it’s currently closed. You’d think the owner would be able to eat there anytime. Hey! We’re investigating the head chef, not ourselves.

 

Day 237 – Friday

 

Halfway there!

 

Catherine’s promotions are just so much easier.

I love Cat’s new Evasion. Nice and speedy. It’ll add to the protection payment, but may be worth it. Darn! I should have kept the police cars, their price tags are $0.

 

Day 238 – Saturday

 

Latricia and Jarod both want to have their first child now. I’m still debating. I’d rather that Latricia topped Director first, then she could work on the appropriate skills for Science when she gets the insane amount of maternity leave. While I debate with myself (hey, I’m not crazy, really!) Latricia is working on her writing for later on in her current career.

 

C’mon Jarod, just one more promotion. I can’t wait!

I knew she’d catch up with Jarod.

Yes, beloved Uncle Clark and beloved Uncle Oliver have both passed on. It’s so sad. I bet there will be a lot of heart broken ladies around town.

Well, I guess that means that we’ll see Architecture and Private Eye lifted for sure next week. Woot! The real question is how long will it take Latricia to top Director so that she can start her family?
